The term project will involve independent library research and deep intellectual engagement with computational neuroscience topic of interest to you.

As a deliverable that demonstrates your learning, you might wish to construct a blog page that introduces the other students to your topic, much like those used in this course.  This blog page would include significant quotations, thought provoking questions, a close reading assignment, and material for student preparation, response, and further reading.

Other possible deliverables include: a written 8-10 page report on your chosen topic,  an in-depth podcast on your topic, software that demonstrates a concept from computational neuroscience, or …. the sky is the limit.

Regardless of your choice of topic and deliverable, the guiding principles of this term project are (1) choose a topic about which you are truly interested, (2) engage genuinely and deeply with this topic, (3) create a deliverable that is high quality (worthy to be shared with others).

Please see the Calendar for target dates for your project proposal and an oral progress report (e.g., the resources/references you are using).  The term project must be completed before final exam week ends.

There are several online tools that make it easy to create blogs or blog pages, including weebly, google sites, and WordPress.  (There is a campus version of WordPress available to W&M students.)

Do not hesitate to take advantage of W&M library resources.  Even during “such times as these,” everyone at the W&M Libraries is ready and happy to support student research projects.

• Research librarians are available by appointment every weekday to meet with you via Zoom or by telephone to discuss ways in which the library can support their research project.
• A remote version of the library’s research desk is also open (7 days a week) to take questions by email and chat.
• With a W&M username and password, all of the library’s databases and electronic collections remain accessible to you.  There is an option to search in Primo for only electronically-available items.
• Swem Library’s Interlibrary Loan service continues to take requests for electronically-available materials.
